Our Clients
The Compass Training Centre’s services are appropriate for any group, organization or business
seeking to bring about positive change in its operations. Some of our past clients include:
Peterborough County-City Health Unit (PCCHU)
Compass Training Centre worked with the employees and board of the PCCHU over a two year period,
building understanding of the Social Determinants of Health and
how to incorporate SDH considerations into programs and services. Customized workshops for staff focused
on recognizing assumptions, improving communications and supporting advocacy around SDH issues. Work
with PCCHU board members included strategic planning on how to maintain awareness of SDH issues post-training,
and an introduction to outcome mapping as a means of evaluating the effectiveness of implemented changes
in programs and procedures.
"Our staff was able to truly internalize the importance of the determinants of health in addressing the root causes of disease. This was the best outcome we could have imagined."
Maureen McKeen Director of Health Promotion, Peterborough Health Unit
Victorian Order of Nurses (VON)
Compass Training worked with VON Central East District to identify key challenges and deliver several training workshops to management and supervisory staff. A training needs survey was conducted, facilitative leadership skills and positive problem solving were identified as current needs. All of the workshop exercises were design around practical day to day service delivery challenges.
"After taking this training, our senior management team has incorporated time for Success Stories at the close of our meetings. This has shown itself to be an uplifting and positive approach as we focus on our achievements rather than problems – so much so that we are considering moving this section to the beginning of our meetings!"

Community Care Northumberland
An all staff day was transformed by Compass Training into a creative learning opportunity where staff had support to reframe current challenges and develop new practices to improve their workplace and services to clients.
"We needed to help build positive problem solving skills among our staff of 21. With long-term staff who felt they had ‘been there-done that’ through multiple other training courses, Compass brought a freshness, and a depth of material, that made us sit up and listen."
Trish Baird
Executive Director

Compass training designed a workshop to identify challenges to effective communication in the workplace. Exercises built commitment to core values and key elements of successful communication in the workplace.
"Compass does excellent work. Their approach is unique in the field of adult education. They address in an interactive way the issues that are present in workplaces right now. In our case, they balanced the needs of 16 different workplaces and crafted a workshop on communication that spoke to each of us. They really know their stuff."
